OHM PRODUCTIONS SHOWCASE

OHM POSTER no names.JPG

OHM Productions had a special, one-night only showcase of recent work on Sunday night, February 6th at The Tank, 312 West 36th Street in NYC. It was a HUGE success!

This evening was a celebration of the birth of OHM Productions.

OHM Productions became a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Theater company in May, 2021, during the unprecedented and difficult early days of the Covid-19 pandemic.

I started OHM as a way to bring actors together, but more importantly,  to explore the intersection of theater and mindfulness. I asked myself: How could mindfulness and yoga practices be incorporated during rehearsals and discussion around the text in a way that allowed deeper connection and vulnerability?

ART BY SIMON ADAMS

I asked six very industrious and talented actors if they would like to explore text with me, in this way, and we began.  We started meeting every Tuesday night on Zoom . I asked them to participate in breathing exercises, meditation, shaking and visualizations. Directing, I incorporated improvising text and implemented the character interview, powerful and irreplaceable tools I had learned from Terry Knickerbocker (William Esper Studio) and Wynn Handman.  And with that, a theater company was born.

We chose Hurlyburly, by David Rabe, as our first play.

Though we sadly could not see the Off-Broadway run to its completion as we had planned, since our rights were rescinded under contract, we were so pleased to share this one-night only special OHM Productions showcase on Sunday night, February 6th as a way to celebrate our cast, and the birth of OHM Productions and the people who have generously donated to OHM.

We plan on bringing a new fully-realized play to the stage in the near future (title to be determined). No donation amount is too small!
