ABOUT
OUR MISSION
OHM Productions is a female-driven Non-Profit Theater company devoted to telling stories rooted in diverse voices.
We value empathy, curiosity, and kindness as the bedrock of our mission. We understand the healing power that comes from full attention and presence.
Our projects stem from the belief that every voice matters. We are committed to listening and believe that theater, at its best, is a connector, helping people to more deeply understand their fellow human beings.
We particularly celebrate stories that rise out of oppression. We celebrate diverse voices, including and especially women's voices. We sometimes choose difficult or uncomfortable themes as a means to go through the pain to find healing on the other side.
OHM Productions is a unique theater company in that we ask this question:
How can mindfulness practices, i.e. breathing, mediation, shaking, visualizations, be incorporated during rehearsals and discussion around the text in a way that is not purely intellectual, but also visceral?

Intrigued by the intersection of theater and mindfulness, we ask:

Can a cast go more deeply into their characters and gain greater trust of each other by incorporating healing and somatic work in the rehearsal process?
Using tools such as Improv, the character interview, and mindfulness, we continually peel the onion, going deeper and deeper. It's incredibly exciting.
We do this together. You and us. Artist and Witness. It's a Tango. Thank you for dancing with us.
With Gratitude,

NOTES FROM THE FOUNDER, RACHEL BENNETT
As an artist and individual I am dedicated to exploring the mindbody connection.
Through the profound loss of losing both of my parents at relatively young ages, I’m passionate about exploring how loss, tragedy and trauma shape us, the stories we tell and ultimately, how grief and trauma actually lead us to greater dimensions of self, bother personally and artistically.
Much of my creative works centers around the hybrid integration of mindfulness/meditation and art.
Carl Jung’s philosophy has been a huge tool in my healing. Jung referred to each individual as having "a shadow." He said "One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious." I celebrate any individual who enters therapy and has the courage to look at it, thereby transcending it.

I am greatly inspired by the work of Dr Joseph Campbell, Dr. Gabor Mate, Dr.. Bessel Van Der Kolk, Anne Lamott, Mary Oliver, Dr, Brene Brown, Desmond Tutu, Dr. Martin Luther King, Gandhi, Albert Einstein, Eleanor Roosevelt, Sharon Gannon and David Life.

The great German poet, Rilke, says, "A work of art is good if it has arisen out of necessity." There is a call in all artists to tell their stories, or else a small part within us dies. Here is to always finding a way to telling our story.
